Woodblock carving demonstration from a Japanese master

This is a video of Kitamura Shoichi, a master carver and printer in Japan, demonstrating the intricate techniques of carving Japanese Woodblock prints. He uses a variety of carving tools to complete one small aspect of the woodblock print. It is important to note that he has very steady hands when carving and works at a very quick pace to limit mistakes or errors. This video does an excellent job in illustrating the purpose and significance of each carving tool.
